OOP Smoothing, or copay-over-time, capabilities in the commercial market has become a legislated standard of care for health plan designs.  Section 11202 of the Inflation Reduction Act, IRA requires every Medicare Part D health plan to offer their plan members the option to pay their out of pocket costs over time, via interest-free monthly installments, beginning January 2025.  Part D plans are required to offer payment services for member's out of pocket responsibility, manage repayment, bear “risk” of those repayment losses, and be responsible for member communication and education in a manner consistent with CMS's guidance.  Paytient has partnered with national PBMs and Plans, as the market leader, to deliver this M3P program experience.
