ASO Basics: Intro to Self-Funding (Part II)

In this session, we will delve into ASO and self-funding.  Attendees will learn the basic concepts, vocabulary, and operating framework for self-funded plans.  Gain familiarity with ERISA and how ASO is regulated differently than fully insured, and how self-funded plans are designed, priced, and sold.   

The ASO Work Group is a highly collaborative peer group for Plans looking to grow their ASO business. ASO Horizons are strategic sessions exploring how to grow profitable and sustainable ASO lines of business. ASO Special Topics sessions are deep dives into areas such as stop loss risk taking and captives, Level Funded Plans, and innovative plan designs, all oriented to those responsible for growing their self-funded books of business. ASO Basics sessions will offer operations staff and sales folks who are newer to self-funding an introduction to self-funding concepts as well as operational and competitive requirements. All sessions emphasize peer to peer sharing on how plans are overcoming the challenges inherent in this complex but promising segment.

 

 

Audience

Open to all Alliance members with an interest in product development, sales, and marketing and anyone interested in growing ASO/self-funded line of business.
