Moving the Needle on Hard-to-Reach Quality Measures

You’re a clinician. You already know how to care for patients. And in the world of Population Health, you’ve been asked to find ways to meet the NCQA requirements of building multiple programs for your membership to keep people healthy, address rising risk, maximize safety, and effectively manage individuals with complex conditions. You are handed the results of your Population Assessment and now you are expected to make all this happen with a giant dataset. You’ve been here before—mounds of data sending the clinical staff in multiple directions trying to get pertinent information to start providing care. How do you leverage the data to inform your decisions on what programs and targeted interventions you deploy to better engage members and improve clinical outcomes? In this session you will learn:

  • How to make sense of the Population Assessment
  • How to you turn “mounds of data” into actionable insights
  • How to leverage these insights to design, deploy, and monitor changes to your clinical programs

Taking Virtual to the Next Level: Let’s Do This!

Is a "virtual first" strategy in the cards for your health plan? Virtual healthcare took a significant bump up because of the pandemic. Consumers are increasingly adapting to virtual care as their initial access point to primary care. It’s convenient. It’s efficient. It’s user-friendly. It certainly looks like we have turned a corner. But what does it mean for health plans? Hear from Alliance member health plans who have ramped up their virtual care strategies, formed key partnerships with technology enablers, and are starting to see impressive results. We will discuss what it means to go fully “virtual first” and explore the critical considerations as well as the pitfalls to avoid. Hear how virtual implementation has rippling implications (and opportunities!) for your plan—everything from leveraging data in new ways, improving care coordination and providing a more customized member experience.

Case Study: Collaborative UM and PA to Avoid Delays in Appropriate Care

Together, we explore how these necessary evils impact payers and providers, and most importantly, patients, and what to do about it. Dr. Lopez shares his perspective on the role of denials in traditional PA and its impact on patient quality and outcomes. His years as a practicing physician informed his view of the prior authorization process. This influenced his role as Chief Medical Officer at Missouri Care, where he was the first in the company to successfully implement value-based utilization metric and quality HEDIS metric contracts in Medicaid. This work led to Dr. Lopez’s vision for promoting a ‘non-denial’ UM process to deliver improved patient outcomes and ultimately cost savings for health plans. Hear how one plan implemented the HealthHelp solution to deliver improved outcomes.

Revolutions in Pharmacy: What Health Plans Need To Do To Optimize Their Investments in Drug Spend in 2022

Advances in technology are resulting in revolutionary medications to cure and treat disease. Unfortunately, these new therapies are coming to market with revolutionary prices that continue to challenge equitable access to appropriate treatments. In this panel discussion, our experts from health plan, PBM and consulting will review solutions that Alliance members need to consider today.
