Local health plans stand at a critical crossroads: while artificial intelligence presents transformative opportunities for operational excellence, many organizations – especially those operating at smaller scale – have been limited to vendor-embedded AI solutions. This cautious approach, while understandable, risks leaving significant competitive advantages untapped. The Health Plan Alliance is stepping in to change this dynamic.

The AI Collaborative, launching in 2025, creates an environment where health plans can accelerate their AI journey and develop strategic technological capabilities. By the end of the year, participants will move beyond vendor-dependent solutions to level the playing field with larger competitors. The program builds on a fundamental principle: AI can be a game-changer for smaller plans, enabling them to achieve operational excellence and competitive advantages previously reserved for organizations with greater scale.

The 2025 program will help participating health plans:

• Develop comprehensive AI governance frameworks that enable confident innovation
• Navigate regulatory requirements while maintaining competitive momentum
• Build robust data infrastructure that supports independent AI capabilities
• Design and execute successful pilot projects that demonstrate clear ROI

Working with our partner C/R Strategy Partners and founder Frances Cairns, these interactive sessions combine expert guidance with peer learning. Participants will receive practical tools and frameworks they can implement immediately within their organizations, helping accelerate AI adoption beyond the constraints of existing vendor relationships.
