Health Plan Alliance Announces a New Provider Network Optimization Consortium
IRVING, Texas, January 11, 2022 — The Health Plan Alliance (Alliance), in collaboration with Faegre Drinker Consulting and ATTAC Consulting Group (ACG), is pleased to announce the launch of its first Provider Network Optimization Consortium (PNOC).
PNOC will provide participating plans with assistance and tools to more successfully administer one of the most important parts of any health plan—its Provider Network. Borrowing from successful practices used in other successful consortia managed by HPA, PNOC will include expert-delivered content, member-to-member information sharing, “Shark Tanks” with vendors that offer needed services, and collaborative sessions to develop needed materials.
The
Health Plan Alliance supports 45 regional health
plans in non-competing markets that work with one another and
their provider networks to improve managed care in their communities. “The Provider
Network Optimization Consortium is another example of the collaborative
learning activities run by the Alliance that bring so much value to our members,”
said Kristin Rodriguez,
Health Plan Alliance chief operating officer. “This type of peer-to-peer
learning is the hallmark of the Alliance.”
Health plans must continually enhance their clinical, administrative, financial
and IT operations in order to optimize their provider networks. HPA’s
consortium model is premised on health plans pooling resources and utilizing
internal and external experts. In so doing, health plans receive far more
services together than they could purchase individually.
“On most days for most Americans, the provider network is the health plan,” observes Mike Adelberg, the leader of Faegre Drinker’s Healthcare Strategy Practice and a co-facilitator of the PNOC. “And yet, health plans struggle to keep pace with member expectations and the many innovations changing healthcare. PNOC positions Alliance health plans to embrace the best of what is happening in healthcare today.”
Jocelyn
Bayliss, leader of ATTAC Consulting Group’s (ACG’s) Provider Network Management
division and a co-facilitator of PNOC agrees. “For the last 25 years, I’ve
helped plans across the nation build and improve their provider networks. Working
with individual plans is great but I’m excited to see the consortium model
leverage our team’s skills to positively impact several health plans at
once.”
The PNOC is comprised of 18 provider-sponsored health plans from the Alliance
membership. It includes several of the highest quality plans in the US.
Consortium activities kick off in January and will run through May 2022.
